Exclusive images reveal how Queensway is to be transformed with wide boulevard walkways, wildflower roofs — and new homes for London renters rather than overseas investors. GMS Estates, which owns a huge tranche of land in the area, plans to turn the run-down district into a west London “Covent Garden”. A planning application just lodged with Westminster council reveals a £30 million revamp to a key block just north of Bayswater Tube station. Shabby shopfronts will be spruced up, two new buildings will provide space for shops and 60 flats, and the currently narrow and untidy pavement will be widened to a boulevard-style walkway. And to make the block — between Queensway, Moscow Road, Salem Road and Queen’s Mews — more attractive, a series of wildflower roofs and a green wall of living plants will be installed.
