Bitcoin, Crowd Funding, 3D printers, Skype and the rest. Companies and business models we take for granted may disappear within the next 10 to 15 years. Do you remember Blockbuster and Woolworths? What about telephone land lines and faxes? Why should legal services be immuned? A business model based on fixed costs of premises, insurance and staff costs in a variable and fluid market is ripe for change. The light at the end of the tunnel may be the train. As always flexible and innovative businesses will see this as an opportunity for change and growth.
Changes in technology are happening at a scale which was unimaginable before and will cause disruption in industry after industry. This has really begun to worry me, because we are not ready for this change and most of our leading companies won’t exist 15–20 years from now.
